Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I was born in El Salvador and migrated to The United States with my family when I was 14 years old. I am bilingual in Spanish and bicultural. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree in 2002 from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, California. I obtained my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology degree in 2006 also from Mount St. Mary’s College. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a passion for working with adults, families, couples, and groups who have experienced any issues with immigration, acculturation, and overall adjustments into a new life style through first-hand experiences or through the experiences of other family members and/or friends. I have also received training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to treat clients who have experienced any traumatic event. I understand that every person, independently of their ethnic background, has their own cultural beliefs, which are fully incorporated into the treatment planning and the therapy process. Respecting each individual’s point of view, personal and cultural beliefs, is one of the most important aspects of my clinical work with clients. If you have any questions or would like to discuss how you and I can work together, please contact me. It would be a pleasure helping you. Me agradara mucho poderle ayudar.
