Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Eight years ago I attened a ceu workshop with Daniel Amen, M.D., on ADD. I learned more about the brain in one day than in two master's degree's and a doctorate. Since meeting Dr. Amen, I and therapists in our office have made over 2000 referrals for spect brain imaging. Presently I believe we are the only office in California that has extensive experience in integrating spect brain imaging into outpatient psychotherapy. Most of the major models of therapy and the majority of the self-help books that are written have a basic assumption...that people have a normal brain. Psychotherapists and psychiatrists do treatments whether they be psychological or medical without looking at the brain. Every other health care profession will do x-rays, cat scans, mri's, blood studies, sonograms, etc., to look and see what they are treating before making major decisions on the interventions to make. My practice makes every effort to integrate the latest in spect brain imaging and integrating that with the psychotherapeutic techniques that we are trained in.
