Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I believe psychotherapy is about self-acceptance, about making choices, about breaking out of unwanted patterns and about fully developing the potential that we all have to experience intimacy in our relationships. The therapist's theoretical orientation guides his or her way of thinking about clients' issues and how to best treat those issues. My theoretical orientation is based on the Differentiation Model developed by David Schnarch, Ph.D. Therapy is a relational experience. The relationship that occurs between the client and myself enables me to use my observations, insights and intuitions as tools to help the client better understand their internal processes and their relationships. I believe that problems are "messages": they are an invitation to examine ourselves and find better ways to interact and to respond in our relationships. Together we can look at ways to best achieve your desired outcome. For more detailed information, please visit my website at www.EdnaAvraham.com!

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
