Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a marriage and family therapist as well as a registered nurse with experience in psychiatric emergency settings as a supervisor. In private practice for a decade and a half, I work with couples and individuals. I became a marriage therapist because I love working with couples on their relationships. With individuals I focus most often on issues of anxiety, depression and eating disorders. I use an eclectic approach to therapy based on a client's needs and wants, employing extensive training and therapeutic experience in multiple modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, self psychology, hypnotherapy and bio-energetic therapy.”

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
