Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
A therapist can provide a supportive place to look at areas of your life where you are blocked or struggling with trauma, grief and fear. Using EMDR and a combination of psychodynamic, relational and cognitive-behavioral methods, I have helped people who were dealing with anxiety, depression, recovery from trauma and abuse and substance use. I have a great deal of experience with the LGBTQ community, adults who were abused as children, people in recovery or concerned about their drinking and/or using and with folks in polyamorous or other nontraditional relationships. I am trained in Attachment Focused EMDR and offer EMDR consultation. Please call or email if you have any questions or want more information.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
