Personal Statement

Personal Statement:

I have been a psychotherapist for 29 years and specialize in treating post-traumatic stress disorder, attachment issues in relationships, grief, anxiety, depression, and addictive patterns.

My approach to therapy is rooted in neurobiology and integrates Somatic Experiencing® into “talking therapy.” I focus on how both suffering and a sense of well-being influence the Mind-Body-Spirit connection.

I help clients learn to regulate and manage feelings that overwhelm them and negatively affect their thoughts, moods, and attitudes, and that, in turn, lead to destructive behavior. Healing can occur in a therapeutic relationship, through the awareness that is born out of observing oneself while being witnessed by another.

I work with individuals, couples, families, teens and children ages 7 and up, and have worked extensively with military service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, focusing on war experiences and their influences on their relationships and families.

I am fluent in English, Spanish and German and understand the significant effects one’s culture has on personal experiences and relationships.

Personally, I am guided by 15 years of meditation and a life-long practice of yoga, dance and aikido.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
