Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
For the past 8 years I have been working at a continuation high school with high risk teenagers and their families. I am currently a volunteer at the high school. I have worked with a variety of issues including but not limited to drugs and alcohol use, gang involvement, child abuse, rape, cutting, eating issues, depression, suicidal ideation, teen pregancy, as well as the more common issues surrounding being a teenager in this day and age.

I have most recently been a guest for local cable shows discussing the issue of bullying for the bullied, the bully, and the parents of either. I half also spoken to classrooms on the subject of bullying and how kids can attempt to deal with the issue. In addition, I am growing the part of my practice surrounding moms and how they deal with being a parent and the ups and downs of parenting itself. Having recently become a parent I have experience both personally and professionally of the isolation and depression that sometimes accompanies being a mom. It is my hope that my clients feel they are treated in a compassionate and respectful way as I help guide them through there process of choices and life paths.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
