Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My mission as a therapist is to sit with clients in a way that supports healing and growth and encourages discovery of innate wisdom. I believe that we all possess the capacity to know peace, but that sometimes we become disconnected with our peace as a result of painful experiences and unhelpful coping patterns. This disconnection can manifest as anxiety or depression, addictive or other self-destructive behaviors, and even psychosis. When these symptoms interfere with our ability to have satisfying experiences, in relationships, at work, and in life in general, we can benefit from getting help. I provide help to clients of all ages and a wide variety of circumstances in the form of a supportive and empathic relationship. In the space of a safe and nurturing relationship one can gain insight, process feelings, and learn new skills. I draw upon a variety of therapeutic orientations in order to meet the unique needs of each client, including cognitive behavioral, person centered, solution focused, and, for the little ones, non-directive play therapy. "I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being." -Hafiz
