Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Ms. Gerry Fagoaga has over 50 years experience working with children and families, first in education, and then in providing therapy. She is known to be compassionate, easy to approach, and devoted to facilitating her clients' progress in resolving their issues. Ms. Fagoaga utilizes the family diagram to assist her clients to discover what patterns and cycles of their biological families they may be unconciously repeating that are causing their problems of today. She also uses various instruments in her premarital and marital counseling that help couples to learn how to use their strengths and differences to have successful and fulfilling relationships. Should couples find themselves considering separation and/or divorce, Ms. Fagoaga will assist them to maintain their dignity and self-respect as they work through this painful period in their lives. Ms. Fagoaga has worked with children as young as 2, and with teenagers, and adults into their senior years. She is truly dedicated to helping her clients grow to their fullest potential.

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
