Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Licensed since 1976, Gilbert (Gil) Shepard specializes in trauma and Dissociative Disorders, relationship issues and relief of the effects of trauma. He has extensive experience and a multi-dimensional approach that helps individuals, couples and families resolve conflicts, find greater intimacy, heal deep-seated pain from trauma, neglect, grief, guilt, anxiety, and depression and find value and purpose in living. He provides a safe and caring place to work through difficult life problems and draws upon a broad holistic background (homeopathy and bodywork) and both Eastern and Western spirituality to help ease stress and support inner growth. Some of his experience has been deeply personal. He has worked with disturbed foster children in his home and thus experienced the effects of neglect and childhood trauma through helping them in this intense atmosphere. He currently works with individuals suffering from the very common dissociative disorders and has for over 12 years. Some of these include individuals who have been simultaneously abused by multiple people and controlled by those people in groups. He enjoys helping those who have been sexually abused from childhood and those who have experienced violence and physical trauma as well as those traumatized by world events such as war, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc. Free initial telephone consultation

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Carlsbad, CA

I provide a therapeutic environment that allows individuals and couples to explore ideas, beliefs, life experiences, thoughts and feelings that may stand in the way of being who you truly want to be. I can help point out repeating dysfunctional patterns that may exsist in relationships at home, at work and with friends and family.I teach people how to respond in their lives versus getting caught in reacting to personalities and events.
