Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I enjoy working with people who engage in some kind of reflective process. My clients say they have felt comforted by my direct communication, humor, deep compassion, and understanding. We work together to uncover their strengths and desires, for it is these that will help them move through challenges. When people come to work with me, they are usually in some state of profound discomfort. After hearing their situation, I promptly teach them skills that offer awareness, self-compassion, and relaxation. I give them different forms of immediate agency/power and self-soothing. Finally, I guide their examination of ingrained patterns and values that are not useful or appropriate. These skills work together to form a simple and effective healing system that lead people to relief and ultimately, choice. I have experience working with transitions of all kinds, grief/loss, couples issues, body issues, codependency/self-care and more. I have also developed a visual system of Life Charting to address anxiety and depression. I also have 15 years of experience working Somatically with clients, helping them learn to listen to and care for their bodies in collaboration with their Physicians. Sometimes it’s hard to seek out help from a counselor. But just as you get professional help for physical problems, there’s no need to hesitate to find help for these struggles as well. You can reach me by phone at 415-378-7506 or you can email at heidi@heidifyodermft.com Complementary introductory sessions are available. I am conveniently located in the Integrative Healing Clinic near the Glen Park Bart Station.www.IntegrativeHealingClinic.com

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
