Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I offer integrative therapy with an emphasis on empowering clients to make the choices and changes that are right for their unique personalities and situations. Because I trust the strengths of the clients that I see, I do not believe that therapy needs to last a very long time. I offer non-judgmental support, curiosity about who the person is and what they believe, and a collaborative approach to imaginative problem solving. This may or may not involve explorations of longstanding childhood issues. I enjoy working with couples, and am not intimidated by arguments. I love working with children and their families, and offer play and art work with children and teens. I do sand tray work with adults who are interested. I have a particular interest in working with people who are struggling with substance use, such as alcohol and drugs, who think they want to change things, but don't want to go the traditional 12 step, AA route. The approach is know as harm reduction. It is relatively new in Southern California, but is well established elsewhere. I run a group to support people working this way.

About My Practice

Office Hours
I offer both daytime and evening hours, with the possibility of weekend times.
Services
I work with individuals, and couples. I see children on their own for play therapy, and I also work closely with their families. I also enjoy working with teenagers. I run a group for people wishing to change their use of substances such as alcohol and drugs, by emphasizing safety, knowledge, and a free and personal choice of what and how to change.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
