Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have a collaborative approach to doing therapy. You and I are a team. I am a powerful ally to have on your team. I will help bring out the best in you. I will cheer you on, and support your dreams, and tell you the truth when you need to hear it. I have this radical view about human beings. I believe, given who we are, our personal history, how we've been hurt in this world, that each of us is doing the very best we can at every given moment in time. (Otherwise we would do better.) I offer caring attention to my clients. I want people to feel safe to feel their deepest feelings, & find the best ways to move forward in their lives. My role is to guide, mentor, witness, coach and enlighten when I can, in an atmosphere that is encouraging and unconditionally supportive. I teach Temper Tantrum training to parents & caregivers. I believe that temper tantrums are a natural phenomenon, and that there are ways to deal with them that can be very healing & helpful to the child. I also help adults to find appropriate ways to feel & express their own deep feelings.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
