Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
It may take quite some time for people to seek professional help. You might have coped with life stressors in many ways, but now you need more. I offer a safe space where both of us can better understand what has been bothering you, and try to find out ways to improve the quality of your life. I invite you to visit me at www.sdpsychotherapist.com.

My style is warm and collaborative. I’ll listen to you and share my thoughts, ask questions and make comments. Life happens in the present, so a lot of what is going on in the present moment tends to be central in therapy. I see myself as caring and mindful.

I have a particular interest in treating clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship or self-esteem issues; children and parents who need support, clients who have undergone gastric-bypass operation, immigrants, and bicultural couples.

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
