Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I provide individual adult and couples therapy in my Davis office. In addition to my general practice, my clinical specialization is pregnancy and postpartum adjustment, attachment and bonding, and the transition to parenthood. My services include counseling, support groups, and classes for new and expectant parents. For more information about my practice please visit my website at: http://www.jacquelineoconnormft.com.

I also provide consultation and continuing education for therapists and other health professionals on attachment and perinatal mental health.

I have an abiding commitment to the development of healthy infant-parent attachment during the first year of life and beyond, and on emotional development throughout the lifespan. I bring to my clinical work my academic background in developmental psychology and the experience of being mother of two adult children and grandmother of an 8-year-old. Please feel welcome to call me for more information about my clinical or educational services.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
