Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been in the field of Human Services for over forty years. I have a varied background in Ministry, Mental Health, and Counseling, specializing in working with youth and culturally diverse communities. For 23 years, until my retirement on 2010, I was a Clinical Supervisor for a nonprofit agency that grew to become one of the largest providers of mental-health services for children in the state. In collaberation with Children and Youth Services of Mental Health and the Human Services Agency, I established the Foster Care Assessment and Treatment Process (FCAT) which pioneered in the State collaborative assessments for foster children and youth.

I am bilingual in Spanish and English and have cultural competence in working with various ethnic communities.

I open my door to the community who can avail of my experience and service.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
