Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have provided therapy in our foothill counties for over twenty years. I focus on client’s strengths with compassion, understanding, and humor. I have great respect for the tenacity of the human spirit. Learning how one views themselves and their world is necessary for effective treatment. I have worked with a large number of individuals and families in a wide variety of settings. These experiences have been challenging and inspirational. I have expertise in treating most mental health disorders, substance abuse problems, and crisis intervention services. Many presenting issues involve learning to deal with the obstacles that we all experience in life. I provide services to individual 12+ years, couples and families. I enjoy working with adolescents and transitional age young adults, in addition to the wide range of adult clients that I see.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
