Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Creativity is the key to my psychotherapy practice. I mix in art, music, dance, education, sports, play and talking in different proportions – depending on the needs of my clients. If it’s dance, then I have a stage and tap shoes. If it’s music and/or singing I have drums, keyboards and a karaoke machine. With a sports enthusiast there’s hoops and outside catch. There’s a separate art room with easels and different art supplies. A sandtray and puppets watch over the artists. And, for the more traditional clients I have a cheery, yet serene, room for just talking.

My passion is in working with children and families – where they find themselves stuck, confused, frustrated and, at times, hopeless. If I can help families learn how to help their children then I will have done my job.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
