Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
If you ever feel like there’s something wrong with you, even when you’ve achieved a lot and are outwardly successful; If, despite all evidence to the contrary, you still believe that no one will get you, care about you or love you for who you truly are; If you are used to hiding from others how much hurt and loneliness you feel inside, but the hiding only makes you feel lonelier, then I might be the right therapist for you. I specialize in helping people that who deeply desire to be understood, heard and seen but also terrified that they never will be. In my 14 years of experience, I have found that often this pain is a result of not being understood or fully loved as children. These early wounds often manifest in adult life as difficulties in connecting with others, experiencing passionate love, and living up to your full potential out in the world. I help by listening deeply to you and what you are seeking. We can then start identifying together what those wounds are, how they are still affecting you and what you truly need to heal them. My expertise is in helping you find courage, trust and hope even in the face of fear and despair and when taking that next step feels frightening and overwhelming on the way to finding healing and happiness.

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
