Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been a licensed psychotherapist in California since 1984. During that time, I have focused on brief, short term therapy and in particular have become proficient using the methodology of EMDR. I am currently certified in the use of EMDR as well as facilitator for the EMDR Institute. I have also found that my background as a paralegal in family law has been a nice adjunct for understanding what people experience when they are involved in the judicial system when dealing with issues of divorce. I also enjoy using my family systems background in many aspects of couples counseling, parent/child relationships and family therapy.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
