Personal Statement:
Janell Wheeler Smith, M.A., Licensed Marriage Family Therapist has worked with children and families for over 20 years, specializing in the treatment of children, and providing individual, group, couples, and family therapy. Ms. Wheeler Smith was employed with the County of Orange, California and worked as a Psychotherapist specializing in the assessment and treatment of at-risk children with behavioral, social, emotional and academic difficulties. She is sensitive to the needs of parents of adoptive children, or parents who have had, or are having difficulties with the Social Service system. She brings extensive experience with her background of working with schools, attending IEP meetings, and assisting parents and teachers with a child or adolescent issues. She is also experienced in crisis assessment, crisis management, and hospitalization. She continues to offer these skills in her current private practice including specializing in TeleMental Health utilizing a secure videoconferencing system for those who have time constraints or geographical issues.
