Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a veteran therapist, I have been blessed with opportunities to meet people of all ages, racial and socio-economic positions. I have learned that life throws us all many curves that can be challenging and that it helps to have a trusted ear and heart to listen and help to deepen one's thoughts and actions. My training is eclectic including sandtray and art therapy, gestalt, psychodynamic and spiritual journey work. My areas of expertise range from childwork, infertility, couples and family dynamics, sexual abuse, divorce, substance abuse, parenting and grief. I like to work with all paradigms, individuals, couples/families, and groups. My office is conveniently located near the Grand Ave. exit off 580 and near the Lake Merritt BART station as well as many buses on Grand Ave. I look forward to hearing from you whenever the time feels right to make the call. Jan Ruchlis-(510) 644-4205.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
