Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Are you struggling to find or sustain an intimate relationship? Do you long to find more ease in relationships—romantic and otherwise? Do you often find yourself feeling regretful, disappointed, self-critical, frustrated or stressed out? Entering a therapeutic relationship will help you feel less alone with your suffering. As a team, you and I will explore and think together about what is happening for you. Our collaboration will support you in alleviating your pain, broadening your awareness of yourself and others, and developing a better relationship with yourself and with others. I will give you room to talk and explore your concerns, and I will regularly offer my thoughts, questions and observations. I have broad training in psychotherapy with a foundation in psychodynamic theory and practice. I also have knowledge and expertise in trauma theory, humanistic theory, and mind/body relaxation and meditation practices. I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2000. I have completed the Advanced Post Graduate Training Program at The Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley, Ca. In addition to private practice, I provide clinical supervision and direction to an internationally-recognized women’s health organization (WORLD).

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
