Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a therapist, my job is to help my clients find a greater sense of well-being - greater peace in themselves, more satisfying relationships, more rewarding careers. I'm honored to have the opportunity to work deeply with couples and individuals, supporting them in their paths of transformation as they create the life and relationships they truly want. I believe that the key to effective therapy is a strong alliance between client and therapist. I believe that when people choose to seek the consultation of a therapist in order to master challenges they are having in their lives, they should have a powerful voice in shaping what the therapy looks like and feels like. In my clinical work, I systematically seek feedback from my clients to ensure that the work we are doing in session is meeting their needs. When people choose to come to me for therapy, my mission is to support them in working on the goals that they have. I partner with my clients to create an approach that meets their preferences for attaining the positive growth they seek. Research continues to demonstrate that when therapists regularly engage clients in providing feedback on how the therapy is going, outcomes improve tremendously. As a therapist, my job is to facilitate a process that improves the well-being of my clients. I believe that change can happen quickly and am proud that most of the clients I see experience significant improvement in the first three sessions. My approach is grounded in cultivating a therapeutic relationship with my clients built on respect and trust. With nonjudgmental curiosity, I seek to understand what is important to the people who come to see me for therapy: What in their lives is working? What in their lives do they want to change? How can they mobilize their strengths to master their challenges? My approach is also grounded in mindfulness. We are all most able to meet the challenges of life when we are centered, present, and in touch with our innate strength and resilience. The stresses of life can quickly throw us into fight-or-flight reactivity mode where we lose our center, our power, and our clarity. A commitment to being mindful - to slowing down in order to deeply connect with ourselves and our inner wisdom - helps us meet the challenges of life and relationships in a more skillful way.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Temecula, CA

I’ve been in private practice in Temecula since 1990. I work with individuals, couples and families on a variety of issues, using a straight-forward approach to problem solving. While I listen with empathy, I am an “active” therapist, meaning I make suggestions, give direction and homework to partner with my clients so they can solve their problems in a timely, effective manner.
