Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been in private practice for over 30 years and I love my work. I enjoy being part of someone’s journey through change as insights and skills are gained, old and new wounds are healed and relationships are transformed.

I do both individual and couples’ counseling with adults of all ages, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations. I have received several awards for my work in domestic violence working with both survivors and perpetrators. My training has included a broad range of theoretical orientations which enables me to apply this knowledge when working with my clients because one approach is not suitable for everyone.

Previous work experience includes being the Clinical Director in a battered women’s shelter, Director of an inpatient chemical dependency unit and social worker at a psychiatric hospital. I am an adjunct faculty member at Antioch University and at CSULB.

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
