Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
JerriAnn is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in attachment work with families, adolescents, and children. She has advanced training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy with Daniel A. Hughes, Ph.D. (pioneer in attachment work). Underlying JerriAnn’s approach in working with clients is the understanding that what really gives us resilience in emotional health is the experience of being securely connected with other people, and particularly those who are closest to us.

During the therapeutic process clients learn how to create and experience safe emotional engagement, or more specifically how to feel safe, secure, and loved in their closest relationships. Internalizing this ability has a ripple effect in ones life. Clients who have successfully engaged in attachment therapy feel connected to others and are more attuned and responsive to others. Securely attached individuals are more able to respond to stressful situations by feeling supportive of one another.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
