Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families to improve relationships and alleviate personal concerns. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been working in the mental health field since 2005 and have worked with a broad spectrum of emotional and behavioral issues. My philosophy is centered around the saying, “If it’s not broken don’t fix it, if it’s working do more of it, and if it’s not working, do something different.” I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment in which you will be an active participant in gaining self-awareness and implementing new behaviors that will lead to positive change. My therapeutic style varies depending on what you want and need; however I believe the most important factor is the relationship between therapist and client. Therefore, I work from a collaborative, empathic, and solution-focused approach to assist you with exploring and finding solutions for the challenges you are facing. I use research-based therapeutic methods, which often help people start to feel better within a few sessions. I integrate complementary techniques and interventions to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual, couple, or family to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
