Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am specially trained to work with children, adults, couples, and families. My treatment approach provides support and feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. With sensitivity and compassion, I help clients to find solutions to a wide range of life challenges and psychological issues. My clinical approach is systemic in nature, as I view people not as individuals in isolation, but as part of a larger family system. In this way, relationships, communication, and interactions between people are emphasized. Even when working with individuals, this approach can be quite helpful and empowering. My theoretical approach is eclectic and strength-based. In this way, I am able to utilize various theories and techniques to provide an appropriate fit for each client with whom I work. Some of these theories and techniques include, but are not limited to, a structural-strategic approach, a cognitive-behavioral approach, a solution-focused approach, and narrative techniques. In-session excercises are also used as well as between-session homework assignments and tasks. These theories and techniques are are also helpful when working with children and are often combined with additional tools such as art and play therapy. The mission of my practice is to provide a safe and caring environment in which clients are able to address their unique situations. I am committed to providing support, understanding, and compassion to my clients while helping them to identify and reach their therapeutic goals.
