Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am primarily interested in depth psychotherapy and in sandplay for children and adults. I worked in schools before becoming a psychotherapist (MS, Early Childhood Education, 1975), and have over 25 years of experience working with children and families. Additionally, I have a committed meditation practice of over 15 years. This practice informs my work as a therapist; spirituality is a strong area of interest, and I feel qualified to work with people on related issues. My experience as a therapist has included working with children and parents on issues of trauma and abuse, developmental issues, and parenting issues; working with women with a history of trauma and/or domestic violence; and working with individuals and couples with general relationship issues.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
