Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I can come up with fancy words to describe myself but after years as a Therapist, it simply does not feel right.
I will listen to and be with you, then together we will come up with what seems best. I don’t have pre-determined agendas; I truly feel psychotherapy is mostly an Art. If you come to me, I will definitely think about what you need but I do not strictly identify myself to one particular theory or model.
I was first trained in a Medical model while also getting a Masters degree in Existenital Counseling. My doctoral studies were in UCLA where the emphasis was Cognitive-Behavioral but my minor was in Human Development and my dissertation on Attachment and Loss (psychodynamic). This adds up to a lot of different things and actually, some pretty good training.
However, the only truly important thing, is not a theory, it is you!

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
