Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I've been a psychotherapist since 1988, when I saw my first client at the Berkeley Free Clinic, as a member of the Peer Counseling Collective. Prior to that I'd been a lot of things - a soldier, an actor/director in LA, an inner city bus driver - but this feels like the work I've been moving toward all my life. I was initially trained as a transpersonal therapist (with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Rosebridge), but quickly became eclectic in my approach as I found that no single orientation serves all clients and situations. Over the years, I have come to specialize in mid-life transitions, work and other relationship problems, depression and recovery from addiction. Using a combination of talk and somatic therapies, my goal is to help my clients connect with their feelings and beliefs, and arrive at an understanding of the barriers they've built to keep them from contentment. Simply put, I like helping people lessen the pain in their lives and get where they want to go. To this work I bring my life's considerable experience, and I happily expect to be doing it for the rest of my life.

Pamela J. Blawusch, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Carlsbad, CA

I provide a therapeutic environment that allows individuals and couples to explore ideas, beliefs, life experiences, thoughts and feelings that may stand in the way of being who you truly want to be. I can help point out repeating dysfunctional patterns that may exsist in relationships at home, at work and with friends and family.I teach people how to respond in their lives versus getting caught in reacting to personalities and events.
