Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
The most personal statement I can make about myself as a professional is that I love my work. I find it to be a deeply moving and exciting process that is a privilege for me to be involved in. In my eighteen years of practicing psychotherapy, I have come to have absolute faith in certain things. Here are some of them:
• Solutions can be found.
• We all have the resources we need to create positive change.
• Healing is possible.
• Relationships are doorways to personal growth.
• Believing these things awakens hope, and therapy then becomes a journey with a life of its own.

In the words of Mary Oliver in her poem, “Wild Geese.”
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting--
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
