Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I bring a broad background of experience to my work. I have provided therapy to juveniles in the Santa Clara County probation system, and co-facilitated a treatment program for male batterers. I provided counseling for chemical dependency at the Santa Clara County Boy’s Ranch and Muriel Wright Center for girls, and worked as a teen counselor at Branham High School in San Jose, California, addressing issues such as the dangers of internet communications. As a Clinical Program Manager at EMQ Children and Family Services in Los Gatos, California, I supervised my staff in providing wraparound services and worked in a residential setting for young children at EMQ. I am familiar with the IEP process in Santa Clara County, which provides special education resources to special needs children. Currently, I am working in a methadone clinic, providing counseling to patients who are addicted to opiates. I am facilitating a women's group there, focused on trauma and substance a use. My passion is to provide my clients with an understanding of themselves and their problem, which then enables each person to be motivated to make healthy choices for themselves, leading to joy and contentment.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
