Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I bring a broad background of experience to my work. In my early career, I provided therapy to juveniles in the Santa Clara County probation system, and co-facilitated a treatment program for male batterers. I provided counseling for chemical dependency at the Santa Clara County Boy’s Ranch and Muriel Wright Center for girls, and worked as a teen counselor at Branham High School in San Jose, California, addressing issues such as the dangers of internet communications. As a Clinical Program Manager at EMQ Children and Family Services in Los Gatos, California, I supervised my staff in providing wraparound services and worked in a residential setting for young children at EMQ. I am familiar with the IEP process in Santa Clara County, which provides special education resources to special needs children. Most recently, I provided therapy in a methadone clinic to patients addicted to opiates, and facilitated a women's group there, which focused on trauma and substance use. Currently, in my private practice, my passion is to provide my clients with an understanding of themselves and their problem, which then enables each person to be motivated to make healthy choices for themselves, leading to joy and contentment.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

If you are thinking about therapy, let me first commend you. I know it can be hard to think about sharing your problems with someone else. But something I have learned by working in this field and from my life is that problems are to be shared. We are all in this together. I try to take a balanced approach in therapy between acceptance and change.
