Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
A long journey of personal growth, education and training has culminated in my private psychotherapy practice. I received my MS degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kentucky with a focus on trauma recovery and gender issues. After completing my MS degree, I lived at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA for 3 years. During that period, I completed the training to become a massage therapist, earned a certification in Somatic Psychology from Santa Barbara Graduate Institute, and participated in many Gestalt process trainings. Since moving to the San Francisco Bay area, I have provided therapeutic services at Buckalew Programs and Marin Services for Women. Currently I am employed as The Behavioral Health Program Director at the Ritter Center, as a consultant to Esalen Institute and as a clinician in my private practice.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
