Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I specialize in adolescent and family therapy, including step/blended families, single parent, same sex, and adopting families. All parents want their kids to be safe, self confident and successful. However, the world is becoming ever more complex, challenging and, indeed, dangerous. Traditional values have fallen away. Rules for parenting are changing as fast as the latest text message.

I have 25 years of experience in helping families navigate a multitude of obstacles including substance abuse, depression, school failure, sexual acting out, and internet/gaming abuse. As a supervisor of social workers for the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services I’ve worked with hundreds of adolescents and their families to make the changes necessary to lead satisfying, productive lives. Through therapeutic conversations in a safe and secure environment, we can engage in the process of healing, change, and recovery.

You can also join our Workshop/Support Group for parents of adolescents.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
