Personal Statement:
Karen earned her doctorate and master’s degrees in psychology from Pepperdine University and her bachelor’s degree from UCI. She has been licensed as a Marriage Family Therapist since 1993. Her training experiences have included working with police and probation in a juvenile diversion program, counseling enlisted marines and officers on a Marine base, counseling students in a college setting, and counseling patients in an inpatient hospital setting. She has a private practice in Laguna Hills where she offers individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, couples, and families. Karen is a certified Grief Recovery Specialist and is also certified in EMDR to assist in dealing with trauma. Areas of special interest are child therapy, parenting, grief, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Karen has also taught both graduate and undergraduate classes as an adjunct professor at a local university.
