Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a professional counselor, my intent is to listen compassionately to each individual life story. I will respect each individual's response to their life struggles. I will help them address emotional issues of their concern. I will support their emotional struggles to the best of my ability.

Counseling is an opportunity to address our emotional pain. The stressful challenges of life impact us all. Learning to understand and appreciate our emotions; learning to kindly communicate our emotions; learning to set healthy boundaries; learning to respect ourselves and learning to relate successfully with others is experienced in counseling. The therapeutic relationship supports the individual during emotional resolution. We cannot change our circumstances. However we can change ourselves. We can learn to forgive our human mistakes. The therapeutic relationship provides the requested guidance to make positive personal changes. The purpose of life is to live life. The counseling experience presents individuals with the opportunity to realize their emotional happiness. Counseling can help people live more fully in peace and harmony within and without.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
