Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
People enter therapy because other means of solving problems have been unsuccessful. For most, the major obstacle to finding workable solutions is insufficient information about themselves as a person: What is your personal, family, and cultural history? What are your feelings, emotional processes? What does your body tell us about your past and the choices you currently make? Therapy becomes a process of retrieving that lost, buried, or previously unavailable information. My goal is to help you make ways of seeing your world, empowering you to live from a present reality rather than a past one. My intent is to bring myself in an equally authentic way to our work through compassion, challenge, humor, and honesty. Although therapy is not an easy process, it can be transformative in providing internal peace and meaning despite a sometimes chaotic and alienating external world.

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
