Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My mission as a therapist is to extend to you an environment where you are listened to, really heard, and feel understood, and where you experience support and freedom to express yourself in a confidential, compassionate and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. If you are experiencing difficulty in your marriage or committed relationship or the specific challenges of mid-life marriage; LGBTQ-specific individual or couple issues; sexual problems; the anguish of an affair; family distress; anxiety; depression; the damaging consequences of addictions; the loss of a loved one; one of a variety of life transitions, or aging challenges in yourself or a family member...and they leave you feeling frightened and alone, I welcome the opportunity to work with you to help you understand your strengths and resilience and to work through your challenges. If you are looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, or you have made the decision to move in a new direction in your life, relationship, or family, together you and I can make that happen! Working together we will discover your strengths, identify the resilience you may have forgotten you possess, identify your goals, resolve issues that are making you feel "stuck" and may be standing in your way from moving forward. Together we will work to bring about positive change and growth. You can be assured of my commitment to holding your welfare as my primary concern and consistently giving professional, competent, and ethical care. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I am a psychotherapist, counselor, educator, and consultant, licensed in the State of California, to assess, and diagnose mental health issues, and provide individual treatment . As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I am a relationship specialist as well. Whether you are an individual, a couple, or a family considering therapy or counseling because of relationship issues, each of you has the power to make changes in your life and the lives of your loved ones.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
