Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in Folsom, California. I graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Chico in 1991, with a B.A. degree in Psychology. I went on to obtain my M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology from California State University, Sacramento in 1995 where I graduated with honors. I have been providing mental health services since 1990 in a variety of settings. Since 2001, my focus has been on working with clients in private practice and I specialize in couples and adults with relationship issues. My approach to couples therapy is to work with my clients to identify the core issues that prevent them from having fulfilling, connected relationships rather than giving them short-term solutions to symptoms of the underlying problems. My other areas of focus include families, blended families, grief and loss, pregnancy issues/loss, stress management, and self-esteem/personal growth. As every person is different, I tailor my treatment plan to the specific needs of each client, using their strengths to identify the best plan of action. Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
