Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I work with people troubled by life issues such as depression, anxiety, or job or relationship issues that are often a result of old family dynamics or unresolved trauma. My work is based on a fundamental belief in the interconnectedness of mind, body, emotions, and spirit, and I apply a variety of methods ranging from talk therapy and cognitive interventions to expressive arts, from mindfulness and body awareness to EMDR (a powerful technique that facilitates the clearing of traumatic memories and emotional stuck points). Through this process of self-discovery and healing clients may regain access to their own innate vitality and creativity and find new possibilities for growth and self-expression.

In addition to adults and couples, I also work extensively with children and adolescents. Another major area of interest is cross-cultural psychotherapy, where I work with individuals rooted in two cultures and with bi-cultural couples and families.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
