Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been a licensed MFT for 7 years and have eleven years of experience in the mental health field. I am fluent bilingual in English and Spanish and have experience with cultural issues in treatment. My clinical experience includes working with acute and chronic mental health disorders, with both children and adults. I have seen children as young as three years old. For two years I successfully treated adult clients’ with issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, and family conflict. I am trained in substance abuse issues and their co-occurrence with mental health disorders. For the last five years I have been working with children and families. I primarily use a cognitive-behavioral approach in my clinical work, but rely on a family-systems approach with families. I have also integrated solution- and strength-focused interventions into my clinical work.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
