Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Have you and your partner stopped communicating?
Are you stuck, arguing in circles about the same issues?
Are you more distant from the love that initially brought you together?
Do you fear you have fallen out of love? Or your partner has? These concerns are common. You are not alone.

My specialty is couples therapy and divorce prevention.
It is important that you find a therapist who you feel comfortable with and can open up to. Here are some things are about me that I hope can help:
I work hard to be a nonjudgmental and supportive listener to all of my clients. It is the human connection that is very important to the therapeutic bond.
I have over 24 years experience as a therapist. My goal is to help couples rediscover the magic that brought them together in the first place and build on that! Whatever the issue, an affair, communication problems, depression, chemical dependency, empty nest syndrome, sexual concerns, I find that even one spouse alone, can often get the marriage turnaround!

I believe most issues between couples can be resolved with care, attention and a plan. I am an expert at helping couples where one partner is more motivated than the other, or only one partner is willing to come.

The sooner you make the decision to get started in therapy, the better. Most couples wait too long (the average is 6 years) and wished they hadn’t.

Contrary to what many people think, the research done over the last 40 years clearly verifies the effectiveness of psychotherapy. Also, the fit with the therapist is important. I encourage my clients to talk to me about the fit and their expectations of the therapy, on a regular basis. We will work together to establish what your goals are. I also encourage my clients to work between sessions on their goals through homework assignments that we have agreed on. This really help clients reach their goals as quickly as possible. We should see some progress within the first few sessions if we take these steps.

Please feel free to call me to discuss your concerns. A telephone conversation is a good way for us to explore if I am the right match for you. If so, I will set up an appointment for you as quickly as possible. I am open to talking with you and answering any questions you may have for me. I hope this information was helpful to you and again, don't hesitate to call with questions. Please go to my website for more helpful information, articles, etc.

I have helped hundreds of couples recognize the hidden obstacles that cause pain in their relationship and learn the skills needed to deepen the quality of their relationship as well as resolve conflict. For over twenty five years I have been working with heterosexual and gay couples. I do not believe in a one -size- fits- all approach to therapy.
