Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Hello! I work with cisgendered and gender non-binary adults who feel anxiety, self-doubt, low self-esteem, emptiness, lost, or lack of meaning, to feel joy, confidence, and ease in relation to others and themselves, and in their lives. I help people build resilience. I have a particular focus in working with people from communities of color and immigrants who have lived experiences of dislocation and invisibility. My clinical interest includes helping people navigate career and life transitions. I work with same sex and opposite sex couples, as well as, adult siblings, and parents and their adult children in helping them to understand how their core vulnerabilities interact to thwart empathy and communication, leading to an inability to resolve conflicts and creating an atmosphere of distrust, alienation, anger, shame and a loss of intimacy. Together we look at their relationship needs and patterns and work to create an optimal level of togetherness and separateness, and build resilience and intimacy. I am Indian-American and fluent in English and Hindi. I lived in several countries and regions of the US prior to making my home in the San Francisco Bay Area. My lived experience with cultural displacement and isolation and lack of social support to help me hold and integrate my diverse identities has given me a unique perspective and sensibility in working with immigrants, people of color, and people who have had experienced being "othered." Previously, I had a fruitful business career spanning 20 years. Much of my success revolved around building relationships, listening, identifying needs, and supporting individuals and groups to be more effective in their work and business. I have worked with non-profits and global firms in corporate marketing and managing people, operations, and IT projects. I hold an MBA from the University of California in Davis. My experience as both a manager and individual contributor in various high-intensity work settings coupled with my clinical training have given me unique insight into job characteristics that effect performance, motivation, stress, and a variety of workplace and career issues.
