Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My name is Kelly McNall-Steiner and I am a licensed Marriage, Family, Child Therapist, in private practice in Tarzana. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families in a variety of settings. I have had cases involving high risk youth, residential placement, the foster care system dependency and juvenile court systems. I have worked with victims of sexual, physical and emotional abuse as well as those experiencing post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety disorders and attachment disorder. I often use a cognitive approach to therapy but will incorporate other approaches when it is appropriate. During the therapeutic process I encourage clients to explore what brought them into treatment while working towards ways of overcoming what may be blocking them from their goal. I hope to hear from you for an over the phone consultation.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
