Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Crisis, trauma, loss, and suffering can lead to the discovery of new capacities for healing and growth. I believe therapy is a collaborative and transformative process in which together we will identify these untapped resources, leading to resilience and the ability to form deeper, more meaningful connections. I welcome clients from early adolescence through later adulthood, as well as couples and families. I offer a safe, genuine, caring, and non judgmental environment where I support you in healing and, ultimately, thriving as you discover your inner strengths and resources. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) which is an approach grounded in attachment theory and supported by neuroscience. I also have training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), AEDP for couples, Hakomi for couples and am currently training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I use various other theories depending on your needs and goals. Together we can develop a counseling plan to support your growth in connection with your unique therapeutic goals. I offer a $90 consultation session for you to see if working together would be a good fit.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
