Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I build on the power of the therapeutic relationship to foster self-discovery, authenticity, and coping skills. Are you feeling stuck? Cynical about relationships? Depressed or anxious? Confused? Overwhelmed? Are your habits self-sabotaging? I help people through these challenges using a psychodynamic and relational approach designed to promote clarity, insight, and growth. Issues of special interest are life transitions such as aging, grief, divorce, retirement, job loss, the empty nest, coming out, and career change. I believe safety, confidentiality, and compassion are essential to success in therapy. For those struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other forms of trauma, I offer EMDR therapy. Specifically, I have had excellent results working with adult children of alcoholics (ACA) who are driven to make bad choices because of a worldview skewed by their childhood trauma.
