Services
I have the privilege of working with couples, individuals and families in Newport Beach. My specialties include couples, children, play therapy, Deaf and hard of hearing, families with special needs, divorce, step-families, trauma, loss and grief. The couples work I use is Dr. Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy, or EFT. "Research studies find that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements" with EFT. Those percentages, and the restored relationships I have seen, are the reasons I have a passion for working with couples. Children amaze me in their therapy work. Because toys are their words and play is their language, children use play to work out hurts, challenges and stuck places. I utilize directive and non-directive play therapy, including sandtray, to help children. I am specially trained to effectively work with children with a wide spectrum of struggles, including children with special needs and their families. Uniquely, I also work with Deaf and hard of hearing couples, children, teens and adults. I am fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), and I also know Signing Exact English (SEE). I have been a sign language interpreter for over 20 years, taught Deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students in Orange County, and taught Sign Language at the University. I greatly enjoy working with Deaf and hard of hearing, and am familiar with struggles unique to the DHH population and culture. I also have specific training and experience with families of divorce, including single parents, step-families and alienation. Grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, anger and addiction are also areas I have specialized training, a heart to work with and hope for pain to be alleviated. I greatly enjoy helping couples, children, families and individuals reduce their pain, and grow towards the life they want.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
