Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My work is anchored in the belief that an authentic connection to another person has boundless healing power. I believe that every person has, at some level, the need to be seen, heard and understood by others. I use a holistic approach, knowing that many factors contribute to his or her state of mental health, including cultural and spiritual beliefs, personality, life experience, family of origin, attachment style, early childhood development, trauma, ancestral history and traditions, somatic structures and the times in which one lives. It is my belief that each client has within them the knowledge and power to heal and grow, and that my role is to help facilitate the discovery and application of those inherent tools. I specialize in helping people identify the unspoken communications they may be unknowingly transmitting in their relationships, causing conflict, defensiveness, distance and disharmony. I also provide grief recovery services using the Grief Recovery Method, either in 8-week groups or 7-week one-on-one sessions. If you are looking for a therapist, I encourage you to call me, ask me questions and see if our connection feels right for you. My fees are reasonable and on a sliding scale. Contact me at (510) 813-9811 or Please make sure to include a phone number where you can be reached in any e-mail communication.
