Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Have you found yourself lost trying to manage or reduce feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, resentment or fear? Does it seem that you've tried everything and maybe this is just the way it's going to be? There is a way. I have dedicated my life to helping others find their way back to a life based on harmony and balance. I believe that we all have the capacity to learn and by the practice of raising our awareness, we naturally evolve. Often it is the "crises" in our lives that provide the catalyst for this evolution. I encourage you to listen to what you are intuitively seeking and schedule an appointment.

About My Practice

Office Hours
Monday - Friday: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Services
I work with Individuals, Couples and Adolescents. I have received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and specialize working with couples. I also work with individuals who are in crisis due to a current situation or past trauma, as well as those needing to move forward in their life in some way. This often involves addressing an emotion that is distressing an individual (e.g. depression and anxiety)and assisting the individual to develop coping skills and understanding. I have been trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) "tapping". This technique has been found to reduce anxiety often related to childhood trauma, combat trauma or PTSD. I also have been trained in hypnosis and use guided visual imagery along with other methods of hypnosis to work with reduction of distressful feelings.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
